Assessor hearings

Standing Orders, Rule 9C.10.3, allows for the appointment of an assessor to assist in the consideration of objections at Stage 2.

Professor Hugh Begg has been appointed as the assessor at Stage 2 of the Bill. He will consider the written and oral evidence on the specified provisions (or detail) of the Bill and report to the Committee with recommendations.  The assessor will hear evidence on the detail of the Bill provided by objectors and the promoter.

Objectors have been placed into groups and each group has been invited to provide witness statements by 19 July 2010.

The assessor hearings take place in the Scottish Parliament w/c 30 August and w/c 6 September 2010. The timetable (55KB pdf 03.09.10) provides further details.
