Remit:

To consider and report on matters relating to transport which fall within the responsibility of the Minister for Enterprise, Transport and Lifelong Learning; matters relating to environment and natural heritage which fall within the responsibility of the Minister for Environment and Rural Development; and matters relating to the land use planning system and building standards which fall within the responsibility of the Minister for Social Justice. (As agreed by resolution of the Parliament on 13 June 2002)

The Committee reports to the Parliament as follows—

1. At its meeting on 22 January 2003 the Transport and the Environment Committee considered the following negative instrument—

The Designation of Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (Scotland) (No.2) Regulations 2002 (SSI 2002/546)

2. John Scott moved—

    S1M-3731: That the Transport and the Environment Committee recommends that nothing further be done under the Designation of Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (Scotland) (No.2) Regulations 2002 (SSI 2002/546).

    3. After debate, the motion was disagreed to by division: For 2, Against 6, Abstentions 1. The Committee had nothing to report on the instrument.

    4. The Committee also considered the following negative instruments—

      The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Exemptions for Disabled Persons) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2002, (SSI 2002/547)

      The Public Service Vehicles (Registration of Local Services) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2002, (SSI2002/548)

      The School Crossing Patrol Sign (Scotland) Regulations 2002, (SSI 2002/549)
