The meeting opened at 9.35 am.

 

1. Item in private: The Committee agreed to take item 5 in private.

2. Time limit on debates: The Committee agreed to limit debate on emergency affirmative SSIs to 15 minutes.

3. Community Care and Health (Scotland) Bill (Stage 1): The Committee took evidence from—

Annie Gunner, Jim Jackson and Shona Barcus, Community Care Providers Scotland

4. Subordinate Legislation:

The Deputy Minister for Health and Community Care moved the motion: that the The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) (No. 8) (Scotland) Order 2001 (SSI 2001/374) be approved.

The Committee agreed the motion.

The Deputy Minister for Health and Community Care moved the motion: that the The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) (East Coast) (No.2) (Scotland) Order 2001 (SSI 2001/387) be approved.

The Committee agreed the motion.

The Committee agreed the motion.

The Committee considered the following negative instruments and had no recommendation to make—

The Feeding Stuffs and the Feeding Stuffs (Enforcement) Amendment (Scotland) Regulations 2001 (SSI 2001/334)

The National Health Service (General Dental Services) (Scotland) Amendment (No.2) Regulations 2001 (SSI 2001/368)

5. The Scottish Budget 2002/3 (in private): The Committee considered its conclusions and recommendations and agreed to delegate authority to the Convener and the Clerk to finalise the Stage 2 Budget Report to the Finance Committee.
