The meeting opened at 9:32 am

  1. Items in private: The Committee agreed to take items 5 to 8 in private
  2. Time limit on debates: The Committee agreed to limit debate on emergency affirmative SSIs to 15 minutes.
  3. Subordinate Legislation: The Deputy Minister for Health and Community Care moved the motion: That the Health and Community Care Committee recommends that the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) (Orkney) (Scotland) Order 2001 (SSI 2001/195) be approved.
  4. The Committee agreed the motion.

  5. Mainstreaming equal opportunities in committees: The Committee considered a paper on mainstreaming equal opportunities in committee work and nominated Dorothy-Grace Elder to attend a work shop on behalf of the Committee.
  6. The meeting continued in private at 9:40 am.

  7. Influenza Vaccination (in private): The Committee considered the Executive’s response to the Committee’s report and agreed to write to the Executive seeking clarification on a number of points.
  8. MMR (in private): The Committee considered possible approaches following the publication of the report on MMR and agreed to write to the Minister for Health and Community Care to raise a number of points.
  9. Haemophilia and Hepatitis C (in private): The Committee considered further action on these issues and agreed to consider a report at the 26 June meeting which will bring together the evidence taken to date and propose future action.
  10. Forward work plan (in private): The Committee noted the report and agreed a number of actions.
