  1. Future priorities: The committee took evidence from—

  2. Councillor Christine May, Adrian Colwell and Jon Jordan of CoSLA.

  3. Forward work programme: The committee considered a private draft paper EU/99/8/1. It was agreed that a further paper, including proposals for reporters, would be brought to the committee by the 7 December 1999 for agreement.

It was also agreed that the Convener would meet with the Convener of the Justice and Home Affairs Committee to discuss matters of common interest in relation to justice and home affairs issues and the European agenda, and report back to the committee.

    European Fisheries Council: (16-17 December) It was agreed—

    that Tavish Scott would contact representatives of the Scottish fishing industry to ascertain their views on the agenda items at the forthcoming Fisheries Council meeting and report back to the committee on the 7 December 1999;

    that the Deputy Minister for Rural Affairs would be invited to give evidence to the committee at a future meeting following the European Fisheries Council, to which members of the Rural Affairs Committee would be invited.
