Justice Committee
21st Meeting, 2010

The Committee will meet at 9.30 am in Committee Room 1

1. Decisions on taking business in private: The Committee will decide whether to take item 5 in private and whether its consideration of its approach to the scrutiny of the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Bill and the Commissioner for Victims and Witnesses (Scotland) Bill should be taken in private at future meetings.

2. Legal Services (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will consider the Bill at Stage 2 (Day 3).

3. Subordinate legislation: The Committee will take evidence on the Criminal Legal Aid (Scotland) (Fees) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2010 (SSI2010/212) from—

Fergus Ewing MSP, Minister for Community Safety;

James How, Head of Access to Justice Team, Gerry Bonnar, Head of Law Reform and General Branch, and Fraser Gough, Scottish Government Legal Directorate, Scottish Government.

4. Subordinate legislation: The Committee will consider the following negative instruments—

the Criminal Legal Aid (Scotland) (Fees) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2010 (SSI2010/212);

the Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children (International Obligations) (Scotland) Regulations 2010 (SSI2010/213);

the Knives etc (Disposal of Forfeited Property) (Scotland) Order 2010 (SSI2010/214).

5. Damages (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will consider its approach to the scrutiny of the Bill at Stage 1.

1. End of Life Assistance (Scotland) Bill (in private): The Committee will consider its approach to the scrutiny of the Bill at Stage 1.

Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee
8th Meeting, 2010

The Committee will meet at 2.15 pm in Committee Room 6

1. Decision on taking business in private: The Committee will decide whether to take item 7 in private.

2. Cross-Party Group: The Committee will consider an application for recognition from the proposed Cross-Party Group on Volunteering and the Voluntary Sector.

3. Review of Volume 2, Section 2 of the Code of Conduct (in private): The Committee will consider a draft report.

4. Financial Resolutions and Financial Memoranda (in private): The Committee will consider a note by the Clerk.

5. Commission on Scottish Devolution (in private): The Committee will consider a note by the Clerk.

6. Scrutiny of SPCB supported bodies (in private): The Committee will consider a note by the Clerk.

7. Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland: The Committee will consider its approach to a consultation by the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland on a revised Code of Practice for Ministerial Appointments to Public Bodies.

the Sea Fish (Specified Sea Areas) (Regulation of Nets and Other Fishing Gear) (Scotland) Amendment Order 2010 (SSI2010/231).

4. Historic Environment (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will consider the Scottish Government’s response to points raised on the delegated powers provisions in this Bill at Stage 1, and the contents of a draft report.

5. Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will consider the delegated powers provisions in this Bill after Stage 2, and the contents of a draft report.

6. Crofting Reform (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will consider the delegated powers provisions in this Bill after Stage 2.
