Rural Affairs and Environment Committee

1. Crofting Reform (Scotland) Bill (in private): The Committee will consider a draft Stage 1 report.

Proposed future business

At its next meeting on 12 May, it is expected that the Committee will take evidence on its inquiry into Scotland’s Hills and Islands.

1. The public sector’s support for exporters, international trade and the attraction on inward investment: The Committee will take evidence from—

2. Budget Strategy 2011-12: The Committee will take evidence on the Scottish Government’s Budget Strategy 2011-12 from—

3. Annual report: The Committee will consider a draft annual report for the Parliament year from 9 May 2009 to 8 May 2010.

Proposed future business

At its next meeting on 12 May, the Committee will continue to take evidence on the Scottish Government’s Draft Budget Strategy 2011-12 (Budget Strategy Phase) from the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth. This will be followed by a seminar with the STUC on the economy.

Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture Committee

1. Children’s Hearings (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will take evidence on the Bill at Stage 1 from—

Margaret Burt, Chair, and Philip Jackson, Executive Member, Scottish Safeguarders Association.

At its next meeting on 5 May, it is expected that the Committee will take oral evidence from the Minister for Children and Early Years on the Children’s Hearings (Scotland) Bill.

1. Subordinate legislation: The Committee will consider the following negative instruments—

the Natural Mineral Water, Spring Water and Bottled Drinking Water (Scotland) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2010 (SSI2010/127);
the National Health Service (Pharmaceutical Services) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2010 (SSI2010/128).

2. Alcohol etc. (Scotland) Bill (in private): The Committee will consider a draft Stage 1 report.

Proposed future business

At its next meeting on 12 May, it is expected that the Committee will take oral evidence from representatives of NHS boards on their 2010-11 spending plans.

1. Housing (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will take evidence on the Bill at Stage 1 from—

2. Annual report: The Committee will consider a draft annual report for the parliamentary year from 9 May 2009 to 8 May 2010.

3. Housing (Scotland) Bill (in private): The Committee will consider the main themes arising from the evidence heard to date.

Proposed future business

At its next meeting on 5 May, it is expected that the Committee will take oral evidence from the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing on child poverty in Scotland and take oral evidence on the Accounts Commisssion Overview Report.

Public Audit Committee

The Committee will meet at 10.00 am in Committee Room 4

1. Decision on taking business in private: The Committee will decide whether to take items 4 and 6 in private.

2. Section 22 report - The 2008-09 Audit of Registers of Scotland: The Committee will consider a formal response from the Accountable Officer to the Committee’s report entitled "The 2008-09 Audit of Registers of Scotland".

3. Section 23 report - Improving public sector efficiency: The Committee will consider a response from the Accountable Officer on the Auditor General for Scotland’s report entitled "Improving public sector efficiency".

4. Consideration of approach - Review of orthopaedic services: The Committee will consider its approach to evidence-taking on the Auditor General for Scotland’s report entitled "Review of orthopaedic services".

5. Section 23 report - Overview of mental health services (in private): The Committee will consider a draft report on the Auditor General for Scotland’s report entitled "Overview of mental health services".

6. Section 22 report - The 2008/09 Audit of Transport Scotland: The Committee will consider a draft report on the Auditor General for Scotland’s report entitled "The 2008/09 Audit of Transport Scotland".

Proposed future business

At its next meeting on 12 May, it is expected that the Committee will consider further briefings from the Auditor General for Scotland in relation to reports he has recently published.
