Meetings of Committees

Justice Committee
26th Meeting, 2009

The Committee will meet at 10.15 am in Committee Room 6

1. Decision on taking business in private: The Committee will decide whether to take item 3 in private.

2. Subordinate legislation: The Committee will consider the following negative instrument—

the Legal Aid (Supreme Court) (Scotland) Regulations 2009 (SSI 2009/312).

3. Draft Budget Scrutiny 2010-11: The Committee will receive a briefing from its budget adviser (Eddie Frizzell) and consider its approach to the scrutiny of the Scottish Government’s Draft Budget 2010-11.

4. Inquiry into decision on Abdelbaset al-Megrahi (in private): The Committee will consider a draft remit for its inquiry.

5. Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Bill (in private): The Committee will consider a draft Stage 1 report.

European and External Relations Committee
11th Meeting, 2009

The Committee will meet at 10.30 am in Committee Room 1

1. Decision on taking business in private: The Committee will decide whether to take items 5, 6, 7 and 8 in private.

2. Scottish Government’s European Union priorities: The Committee will take evidence from—

Michael Russell MSP, Minister for Culture, External Affairs and the Constitution, Deborah Smith, Acting Director for Culture, External Affairs and Tourism, and Donald Henderson, Deputy Director of Europe Division, Scottish Government.

3. Special Edition of the Brussels Bulletin: The Committee will consider a special edition of the Brussels Bulletin.

4. Brussels Bulletin: The Committee will consider the Brussels Bulletin.

5. Presidency of the EU Council: The Committee will consider its approach to invitations to the Ambassadors of EU Presidency nations.

6. China Plan inquiry: The Committee will consider a draft report.

7. EU Budget review inquiry: The Committee will consider witnesses for the inquiry.

8. Scottish Government’s European Union priorities: The Committee will consider the oral evidence session.

Finance Committee
22nd Meeting, 2009

The Committee will meet at 2.00 pm in Committee Room 2

1. Decision on taking business in private: The Committee will decide whether to take item 3 in private.

2. Public Services Reform (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will take evidence on the Bill at Stage 1 from—

Professor Lorne Crerar, former Chair of the Independent Review of Regulation, Audit, Inspection and Complaints Handling of Public Services in Scotland;
Douglas Sinclair, former Chair of the Fit-for-purpose Complaints System Action Group;

and then from—

Councillor Ronnie McColl, Spokesperson for Health and Well-being, Jon Harris, Strategic Director, and Adam Stewart, Policy Manager, COSLA;

and then from—

Jim Martin, Scottish Public Services Ombudsman;

3. Draft Budget Scrutiny 2010-11: The Committee will consider a briefing from the Budget Adviser and SPICe on the Scottish Government’s Draft Budget 2010-11.

Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee
11th Meeting, 2009

The Committee will meet at 2.15 pm in Committee Room 4

1. Decision on taking business in private: The Committee will decide whether to take items 4 and 5 in private.

2. Cross-Party Group: The Committee will consider an application for recognition from the proposed Cross-Party Group on Industrial Communities.

3. Possible changes to Standing Orders: The Committee will consider a letter from the Convener of the Subordinate Legislation Committee on possible changes to Chapter 10 of Standing Orders.

4. Review of the Budget Process: The Committee will consider a note by the Clerk.

5. Public Services Reform (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will consider a draft letter to the Finance Committee.

6. Interpretation and Legislative Reform (Scotland) Bill (in private): The Committee will consider a draft report to the Subordinate Legislation Committee.

7. Review of Section 2 of the Code of Conduct (in private): The Committee will consider a note by the Clerk.

Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change Committee
