The Committee will meet at 10.00 am in Committee Room 1

1. New Petitions: The Committee will consider the following new petitions—

PE1004 Environmental problems associated with burning and rendering animal carcasses. David Adam will make a brief statement to the Committee in support of this petition accompanied by Councillor Joy Mowatt.

PE1017 Establishment of a Scottish disability community development council. William Wilson will make a brief statement to the Committee in support of this petition.

PE1019 Nationwide health promotion campaign regarding antibiotic resistance.

PE1007 Improper use of disabled parking bays.

PE1009 Justice in local planning matters.

PE1018 Restoration of NHS Dental Services.

2. Current Petitions: The Committee will further consider the following current petitions—

PE868 Sports clubs – right to buy. The Committee will consider a response from the Scottish Executive.

PE873 Post polio syndrome. The Committee will consider responses from the Chief Scientist, the Chief Medical Officer and the Minister for Health and Community Care.

PE898 Maternity services. The Committee will consider a response from the petitioner.

PE908 and PE909 Traffic regulation orders. The Committee will consider responses from the petitioners.

PE947 Ownerless land. The Committee will consider responses from the Queen’s & Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer, Registers of Scotland and the Law Society of Scotland.

PE956 and PE982 Ship to ship oil transfer in the Forth Estuary. The Committee will consider responses from Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Scottish Natural Heritage, Fife Council, City of Edinburgh Council, East Lothian Council, West Lothian Council, Marine Conservation Society, RSPB, North Sea Commission, Lloyd’s, Scottish Executive and the Petitioners.

PE959 Borderline Theatre.

PE970 7:84 Theatre Company.

The Committee will consider a response from the Minister for Culture and further information received from Borderline Theatre.

PE829 To debate the impact of the Housing Stock transfer on Scottish communities. The Committee will consider a response from Glasgow Houisng Association.

Proposed future business

At its next meeting on 17 January, it is expected that the Committee will consider new petitions on alcohol exclusion zones and dispersal orders, amendment of the National Park (Scotland) Act 2000, a nationally co-ordinated and nationally funded scheme for erecting informative plaques, review of arrangements for managing listed buildings, television coverage of Scottish football and the protection of Greenfield sites.

The Committee is also expected to further consider current petitions on the publication of criminal memoirs, environmental protection, mental health care and treatment, the Victim Notification Scheme, ecovillages, breast cancer screening, the use of excessive packaging in supermarkets and the protection of ancient woodland.
