1. New Petitions: The Committee will consider the following new petitions—

PE997 Protection from abusive parents. Peter Cox will make a brief statement to the Committee in support
of this petition accompanied by Sarah Campbell.

PE1005 The act of blessing oneself. Harry Conroy of the Scottish Catholic Observer will make a brief statement
to the Committee in support of this petition accompanied by Gerard Gough.

PE1003 Revoke the Shetland Islands Regulated Fishery (Scotland) Order 1999.

PE1002 Public subsidy in relation to the provision of affordable housing.

PE1001 Appeals to a local valuation appeals committee in relation to council tax payment.

PE1016 To scrap criminal legal aid and establish a Public Defender’s Office.

2. Current Petitions: The Committee will further consider current petitions on—

PE789 Methadone prescriptions. The Committee will consider a response from the Scottish Executive.

PE857 Provision of Gaelic language teachers. The Committee will consider a response from the petitioner.

PE859 A77 Maybole Bypass. The Committee will consider responses from the petitioner and the Scottish Executive.

PE937 To recognise and promote Public Community Partnership funding. The Committee will consider responses
from Highland Council, COSLA and the Scottish Executive.

PE944 Access rights for fathers. The Committee will consider a response from the Scottish Executive.

PE695 Affordable, accessible local transport available to disabled people who cannot use public transport.
The Committee will consider a response from the Scottish Executive.

PE616 Health and safety hazards caused by seagulls in urban areas.The Committee will consider a response from the Scottish Executive.

PE887 Creation of new towns such as Cumbernauld. The Committee will consider a response from the petitoner.

Debate on the subject of—

S2M-5172 Jackie Baillie: Ending Child Poverty in Scotland— That the Parliament agrees that it is unacceptable that children living in severe poverty in Scotland are missing out on basic necessities< such as fresh, nutritious food, new clothes and shoes and having a warm home in the winter; welcomes Save the Children’s campaign to end child poverty, which highlights the effects for children and their families of living in severe and persistent poverty; acknowledges the progress made by the Scottish Executive in lifting 100,000 children in Scotland out of poverty and helping children in the Dumbarton constituency and across Scotland to improve their life chances, and believes that more needs to be done and that the Executive should prioritise the needs of the very poorest children and continue to work with the UK Government in implementing solutions, such as child seasonal grants, proposed as part of the Save the Children campaign.
