NOTE OF DECISIONS TAKEN AT THE MEETING OF THE PARLIAMENTARY BUREAU: 15 JUNE 2004 AT 2.30 PM

1. Future Business Programme

The Bureau agreed to recommend to the Parliament a revised business programme for the current week and a future business programme for weeks beginning 21 and 28 June 2004. It was noted that Members' Business on Wednesday 23 June would be a Conservative allocation; on Thursday 24 June would be S2M-1431 Chris Ballance - Education for Peace Across Scotland; on Wednesday 30 June would be an SSP allocation and on Thursday 1 July would be a Liberal Democrat allocation.

2. Lead Committee Designation

The Bureau agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the Justice 1 Committee be designated as lead committee in consideration of the Victim Statements (Prescribed Offences) (Scotland) Amendment (No. 2) Order 2004, (SSI2004/287).

3. Approval of SSIs

The Bureau agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the following instruments be approved-

the draft Advice and Assistance (Assistance by Way of Representation) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2004;

the draft Advice and Assistance (Financial Limit) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2004;

the draft Scotland Act 1998 (Transfer of Functions to the Scottish Ministers etc.) Order 2004; and

the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning) (West Coast) (No.3) (Scotland) Order 2004 (SSI 2004/237)

4. Recess Dates 2005

The Bureau agreed to recommend to the Parliament the following recess dates from January to September 2005-

Rule 2.3.1 - That the Parliament agrees the following dates under rule 2.3.1: 12 - 20 February 2005 (inclusive), 25 March - 10 April 2005 (inclusive), 2 July - 4 September 2005 (inclusive).

5. Water Services etc. (Scotland) Bill

It was agreed that the Environment and Rural Development Committee be designated as lead committee in consideration of the Water Services etc. (Scotland) Bill at Stage 1 and that the Bill also be referred to the Subordinate Legislation Committee for consideration of the relevant provisions.

6. Date of next meeting

The next meeting of the Bureau would be held at 2.30 pm on Tuesday 22 June 2004.
