  1. Future Business Programme
  2. It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament a future business programme for weeks beginning 3 and 10 November 2003. (for text of motion see Section F of the Business Bulletin for 29 October 2003)

  3. Procedural Motions

It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the following instruments be approved:

the draft Local Government in Scotland Act 2003 (Ancillary Provisions) Order 2003;

the draft Victim Statements (Prescribed Courts) (Scotland) Order 2003.

It was also agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the Justice 2 Committee be designated as lead committee in consideration of the following instrument:

the Civil Legal Aid (Scotland) Amendment (No.2) Regulations 2003, (SSI 2003/486)

3. Criminal Procedure (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill - Stage 1 Referral

It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the Criminal

Procedure (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill be referred to the Justice 1 Committee as

lead committee at Stage 1. The Bureau also referred the bill to the Subordinate

Legislation Committee for consideration of the delegated powers provisions.

4. Equal Opportunities Committee - Request to Meet in Glasgow

The Bureau considered a request from the Equal Opportunities Committee to meet in Glasgow on 2 December 2003 to consider the European Year of Disabled People 2003.

The Bureau agreed to the Committee's request.

5. Local Government and Transport Committee - Request to Send Members to Republic of Ireland

The Bureau considered a request from the Local Government and Transport Committee to send five members and two clerks to the Republic of Ireland in connection with its pre-legislative consideration of the Local Governance (Scotland) Bill.

The Bureau agreed to the Committee's request.

6. Date of Next Meeting

It was agreed that the next meeting would be at 2.30 pm on 4 November 2003.
