S2W-1103 Mr Bruce McFee: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will investigate the events leading to the decision by Argyll and Clyde NHS Board to withdraw emergency and major complex surgery from the Vale of Leven Hospital from 1 October 2003.

S2W-1104 Mr Bruce McFee: To ask the Scottish Executive when it first became aware of the decision by Argyll and Clyde NHS Board to withdraw emergency and complex major surgery from the Vale of Leven Hospital from 1 October 2003 and which other agencies were consulted about the decision.

S2W-1105 Mr Bruce McFee: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will investigate any reduction in the level of locally provided services at the Vale of Leven Hospital.

S2W-1106 Mr Bruce McFee: To ask the Scottish Executive what discussions took place with the Scottish Ambulance Service about any need for additional ambulance provision in relation to the decision to withdraw emergency and complex major surgery from the Vale of Leven Hospital from 1 October 2003 before the decision was announced.

S2W-1107 Mr Bruce McFee: To ask the Scottish Executive what criteria were used to determine any need for additional ambulance provision in relation to the decision to withdraw emergency and complex major surgery from the Vale of Leven Hospital from 1 October 2003.

S2W-1108 Mr Bruce McFee: To ask the Scottish Executive what action it has taken to attract consultants from other parts of the United Kingdom and abroad; what success it has had in attracting such consultants to the NHS, and in what disciplines it has attracted them.

S2W-1109 Mr Bruce McFee: To ask the Scottish Executive how many vacancies for NHS consultants there are in each discipline, broken down by NHS board.

S2W-1110 Mr Bruce McFee: To ask the Scottish Executive what progress has been made on implementing the new contract for NHS consultants.

S2W-1111 Carolyn Leckie: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S2W-848 by Malcolm Chisholm on 23 June 2003, what funding will be required to implement the working time regulations for all NHS staff and whether all NHS boards have allocated the necessary funding.

S2W-1112 Carolyn Leckie: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will provide documentary evidence that all NHS employers are compliant with the working time regulations for all NHS employees.

S2W-1113 Stewart Stevenson: To ask the Scottish Executive which new drugs have been licensed for use over the last 12 months and which NHS boards have included these drugs in their formulary.

S2W-1114 Campbell Martin: To ask the Scottish Executive whether there is an acceptable solution for dealing with existing nuclear waste; if not, whether such a solution is likely to be found before commencement of the decommissioning process at the Hunterston nuclear power station in Ayrshire, and what the reasons are for the position on the matter.

S2W-1115 Campbell Martin: To ask the Scottish Executive what discussions it has had with Her Majesty's Government about the impact of closing the Hunterston nuclear power station following the commencement of decommissioning in 2011.

S2W-1116 Campbell Martin: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it has had any discussions with Her Majesty's Government about any potential for developing the current Hunterston nuclear power station site in Ayrshire as a centre of excellence in the generation of energy from renewable sources and what the conclusion was of any such discussions.

S2W-1117 Margaret Jamieson: To ask the Scottish Executive how it ensures that all its departments comply with EU Council directive 97/81/EC on part-time working.

S2W-1118 Margaret Jamieson: To ask the Scottish Executive what guidance it has given to the NHS about complying fully with EU Council directive 97/81/EC on part-time working.

S2W-1119 Mr Rob Gibson: To ask the Scottish Executive whether the budget allocated by the Department of Trade and Industry to COI Communications to publicise and facilitate the United Kingdom's public debate on genetic modification is adequate to sample opinion in Scotland.

S2W-1120 Christine Grahame: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S2W-735 by Malcolm Chisholm on 23 June 2003, what steps it will take to refer the drug cefuroxime to NHS Quality Improvement Scotland in order to commission research into the drug's effectiveness in the treatment of MRSA, ensure full investigation of its performance to date in the treatment of prior, or existing, cases of MRSA and, until such time as the investigation is completed, issue guidelines on the use of cefuroxime in future cases.

S2W-1121 Christine Grahame: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S2W-732 by Malcolm Chisholm on 23 June 2003, what steps will be taken to establish a mechanism for monitoring improvements in staffing levels following the agreement between NHS employers and trade unions to introduce the minimum pay rate.

S2W-1122 Christine Grahame: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S2W-733 by Malcolm Chisholm on 23 June 2003, what steps will be taken to ensure that compliance with clear hand hygiene policies forms part of a systematic review by NHS trusts.

S2W-1123 Mr Kenny MacAskill: To ask the Scottish Executive how it will ensure that quality contracts in respect of transport projects are taken up and made simpler to obtain; whether additional funds will be made available to local authorities to meet the cost of the take-up of quality contracts if additional revenue is required by transport operators, and if so, from which budget such funds will be allocated and, if not, how local authorities will encourage the creation of quality contracts operators.

S2W-1124 Mr Kenny MacAskill: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will dispense with the need for a full Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance proposal for the creation of quality contracts in respect of transport projects and, if so, when this will take place.

S2W-1125 Fergus Ewing: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it has received a letter issued in May 2003 from the Forum of Private Business in Scotland seeking a meeting with the Minister for Environment and Rural Development to discuss water charges for business customers; if so, whether the minister will hold such a meeting and invite all other bodies representing businesses that have expressed concerns on this matter.

S2W-1126 Fergus Ewing: To ask the Scottish Executive whether full colour calendars for 2003-04 have been sent in the same envelope as Integrated Administration and Control System forms to all recipients of such forms and, if so, on whose authority the decision to do so was taken and, in particular, whether the Scottish Biodiversity Forum's agriculture working group had any role in making the decision; how many calendars were sent out; what the calendars cost in total; what the cost was of any extra postage involved, and whether distributing these calendars in this manner was a sensible use of public funds.

S2W-1127 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive what the reasons are for the increase in the estimated costs to the M74 northern extension.

S2W-1128 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive whether the contribution required from Glasgow City Council towards the cost of the M74 northern extension has increased and, if so, by how much.

S2W-1129 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive whether an environmental impact assessment has been carried out in respect of the M74 northern extension and, if so, when and what the results of the assessment were.

S2W-1130 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive who owns the site of the Queens Park development in Glasgow.

S2W-1131 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive what environmental impact assessment has been carried out in respect of the Queens Park development in Glasgow and what the results of any such assessment were.

S2W-1132 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive how much the Queens Park development in Glasgow will cost.

S2W-1133 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive how much public money is being allocated to the Queens Park development in Glasgow.

S2W-1134 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive whether any of the funding for the Queens Park development in Glasgow is being generated under the private finance initiative or public private partnerships.

S2W-1135 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive when the Queens Park development in Glasgow will commence.

S2W-1136 Rosie Kane: To ask the Scottish Executive what public consultation has taken place on the Queens Park development in Glasgow.

S2W-1137 Mr Brian Monteith: To ask the Scottish Executive what planning, or other restrictions, currently apply to the siting and location of helipads and wind-socks and the landing and take-off of helicopters; which bodies have planning authority, or an advisory role, in respect of these matters, what powers they have, and whether it has any plans to review this situation.

S2W-1138 Brian Adam: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will support money advice outreach services within the NHS.

S2W-1139 Brian Adam: To ask the Scottish Executive how money advice outreach services within the NHS might best be provided.

S2W-1140 Brian Adam: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will fund, either directly or indirectly, money advice outreach services within the NHS.

S2W-1141 Brian Adam: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it has commissioned any research into links between money problems and health problems in deprived communities.

S2W-1142 Des McNulty: To ask the Scottish Executive what cost savings would accrue to Scottish Water if a 10% reduction in per capita demand was achieved through mains leakage reduction or any other means.

S2W-1143 Des McNulty: To ask the Scottish Executive how much of Scottish Water’s water and sewerage mains network was mapped when Scottish Water came into existence and how much it has spent, and will spend, in each year from 2002-03 to 2005-06 on mapping the remainder of the network.

S2W-1144 Des McNulty: To ask the Scottish Executive what major capital projects will be completed by Scottish Water in each of the next two years.

S2W-1145 Des McNulty: To ask the Scottish Executive whether any sustainable urban drainage systems have been transferred to Scottish Water under the Water Environment and Water Services (Scotland) Act 2003.

S2W-1146 Des McNulty: To ask the Scottish Executive what progress is being made by Scottish Water in implementing the consultation code required under section 28 of the Water Industry (Scotland) Act 2002.

S2W-1147 Carolyn Leckie: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S2W-843 by Malcolm Chisholm on 23 June 2003, whether all NHS trusts have produced documentary evidence to confirm compliance with the working time regulations and whether such evidence will be placed in the Scottish Parliament Information Centre.

S2W-1159 Mr Mark Ruskell: To ask the Scottish Executive how many responses it received to its consultation on Nature Conservation (Scotland) Bill - A draft for consultation and, of these, how many were (a) broadly supportive and (b) opposed in principle.

S2W-1160 Murdo Fraser: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it has met Scottish Water in order to discuss the water charge increases to small businesses and pass on any concerns of the small business sector in relation to this matter.

S2W-1161 Murdo Fraser: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will meet the Forum of Private Business in order to discuss increases in business water charges.

S2W-1162 Mr David Davidson: To ask the Scottish Executive whether pharmacy oxygen services will continue.

S2W-1163 Mr David Davidson: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will give any consideration to introducing ambulatory oxygen equipment in the NHS.

S2W-1164 Mr David Davidson: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will recommend the use of statins for all diabetics at risk of heart disease.
