NOTE OF DECISIONS TAKEN AT THE MEETING OF THE PARLIAMENTARY BUREAU: 19 November 2002 AT 2.30 PM

1. Future Business Programme

It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament revised business for this week and future business for the weeks commencing 25 November and 2 December 2002. (for text of motions see Section F of the Business Bulletin for 20 November 2002).

2. Procedural Motions

It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the Justice 1 Committee be designated as Lead Committee in consideration of the Civil Legal Aid (Scotland) Regulations 2002, (SSI 2002/494); the Advice and Assistance (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2002, (SSI 2002/495); and the Civil Legal Aid (Scotland) (Fees) Amendment Regulations 2002, (SSI 2002/496). It was further agreed that the Justice 2 Committee should report to the Lead Committee on the above regulations by 25 November 2002.

It was also agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the Rural Development Committee be designated as Lead Committee in consideration of the Cairngorms National Park Designation, Transitional and Consequential Provisions (Scotland) Order 2003, (draft) and the Cairngorms National Park Elections (Scotland) Order 2003, (draft). It was further agreed that the Transport and Environment Committee should report to the Lead Committee on the above draft regulations by 6 December 2002.

It was noted that the Parliament would be asked to agree to meet in the Hub, Castlehill, Edinburgh in period from 12 – 29 May 2003.

3. Referral of Bills

It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the Education, Culture and Sport Committee be lead Committee for the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Bill and that the Local Government Committee be a secondary committee.

4. Date of Next Meeting

It was agreed that the next meeting would be at 2.30 pm on 26 November 2002.
