S1W-27027 Stewart Stevenson: To ask the Scottish Executive how many police stations have been operated by (a) Tayside Police, (b) Northern Constabulary, (c) Strathclyde Police, (d) Lothian and Borders Police, (e) Grampian Police, (f) Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary and (g) Central Scotland Police in each year since 1997.

S1W-27028 Roseanna Cunningham: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S1W-25103 by Mr Jim Wallace on 21 June 2002, whether it will list all prisons and young offenders institutions in the Scottish Prison Service where it is possible to see from one wing what is happening in one or more other wings.

S1W-27029 Roseanna Cunningham: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S1W-25103 by Mr Jim Wallace on 21 June 2002, what the benefits are of it being possible to see from one prison wing to another.

S1W-27030 Roseanna Cunningham: To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to question S1W-25103 by Mr Jim Wallace on 21 June 2002, whether it intends to (a) commission new private prisons or young offenders institutions or (b) commission services from private prisons or young offenders institutions where it is possible to see from one wing to another, giving the reasons for its position on this matter.

S1W-27031 Alex Neil: To ask the Scottish Executive what involvement it and the First Minister have in the process for appointing its permanent secretary.

S1W-27032 Alex Neil: To ask the Scottish Executive what powers the First Minister has to recruit and appoint civil servants.

S1W-27033 Mr Jamie McGrigor: To ask the Scottish Executive what evidence it presented, or specific representations it made, to the National Audit Office during the compilation of their report, Dealing With Pollution From Ships, and what subsequent representations it has made to the Department of Transport to ensure the protection of the inshore waters from Cape Wrath to the Mull of Kintyre, certain areas of Orkney and Shetland and the Inner Moray Firth and the Firth of Forth given that these areas are not protected by the Merchant Shipping Prevention of Oil Pollution Regulations 1996.

S1W-27034 Alex Neil: To ask the Scottish Executive what powers the First Minister has to discipline and terminate the employment of civil servants.

S1W-27035 Alex Neil: To ask the Scottish Executive whether the First Minister decides how many civil servants there should be in the Scottish Executive, associated departments, executive agencies and non-departmental public bodies.

S1W-27036 Alex Neil: To ask the Scottish Executive whether a policy adviser is classed as a civil servant.

S1W-27037 Alex Neil: To ask the Scottish Executive what process and codes were followed and which individuals were involved in the re-appointment of Harold Mills as Chairman of Caledonian MacBrayne.

S1W-27046 Alex Neil: To ask the Scottish Executive who decides whether a policy adviser should be appointed; what the criteria are for such appointments; what the function of a policy adviser is and why such posts have been created.

S1W-27047 Stewart Stevenson: To ask the Scottish Executive when the Minister for Environment and Rural Development will reply to the letter of 18 March 2002 from the Member of Parliament for Banff and Buchan, referred to him by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and acknowledged by the Executive’s Correspondence Unit on 25 March 2002.

S1W-27048 Robert Brown: To ask the Scottish Executive what space standards are currently being applied in the designs of new schools; how these have been updated from those used in the 1970s and amended for metrication in the 1980s, and whether it has any plans to publish standards for excellence in space and quality in school buildings.

S1W-27049 Robert Brown: To ask the Scottish Executive what steps are being put in place to undertake post-occupancy evaluations of the new school buildings being procured by local authorities, including qualitative as well as quantitative appraisals.

S1W-27050 Tavish Scott: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it is making any progress towards simplifying the examination and pupil assessment systems.

S1W-27051 Mr Jamie Stone: To ask the Scottish Executive when it intends to publish its plan for reform of crofting legislation.

S1W-27055 Andrew Wilson: To ask the Scottish Executive by what percentage reported crime on the rail network rose in the past year, detailing what (a) practical and (b) financial support it provided to the rail industry to address this issue.

S1W-27056 Andrew Wilson: To ask the Scottish Executive what (a) practical and (b) financial support it proposes to provide to take forward the rail industry's recent "railway crime week" campaign, broken down to show the timescale and targeted area of such support.

S1W-27057 Andrew Wilson: To ask the Scottish Executive what (a) practical and (b) financial aspects of its youth crime policy will be targeted to take forward the railway industry's recent "railway crime week" campaign, showing any timescales, targeted areas and any amounts.

S1W-27058 Andrew Wilson: To ask the Scottish Executive what powers it has to introduce legislation affecting or protecting the pension rights of employees transferred under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations or the provision of the Statement of Practice covering these, and under what section of the Scotland Act 1998 any such powers are conferred.

S1W-27059 Mr Brian Monteith: To ask the Scottish Executive what plans it has to progress the recommendations made by the Transport and the Environment Committee in its 4th Report 2002, Report on Petition PE327 by the Blairingone and Saline Action Group on Organic Waste Spread on Land.

S1W-27060 Alasdair Morgan: To ask the Scottish Executive how often in the last year representatives of Scottish Natural Heritage have met representatives of the Quarry Products Association.

S1W-27061 Fiona Hyslop: To ask the Scottish Executive how many NHS patients in the West Lothian Healthcare NHS Trust area on the true waiting list for a hip replacement operation (a) waited more than the target 10 months and (b) were seen within that timescale since the target was set and how many patients are currently on the list.

S1W-27062 Fiona Hyslop: To ask the Scottish Executive what the current financial deficit of the West Lothian Healthcare NHS Trust is.

S1W-27063 Fiona Hyslop: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it is aware of any plans by West Lothian Healthcare NHS Trust to address the trusts’s financial deficit and whether it intends to assist the trust in addressing this deficit.

S1W-27064 Fiona Hyslop: To ask the Scottish Executive what the projected shortfall in NHS funding for Lothian NHS Board is, broken down by NHS trust and hospital.

S1W-27065 Fiona Hyslop: To ask the Scottish Executive what charging structure will be in place for car parking at the new Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and whether staff and medical students will be exempted from charges.

S1W-27066 Fiona Hyslop: To ask the Scottish Executive what the current average hours worked by junior doctors in the West Lothian Healthcare NHS Trust area are and what support it intends to provide to reduce the number of hours worked by junior doctors in the area.

S1W-27067 Fiona Hyslop: To ask the Scottish Executive how many vacancies for consultants in the West Lothian Healthcare NHS Trust area there are, broken down by speciality and whether it expects this number to reduce and, if so, how, when and by how much.

S1W-27068 Brian Fitzpatrick: To ask the Scottish Executive how its school estate strategy will identify the number of (a) schools and (b) the number of pupils served by schools that have sub-standard heating, ventilation, plumbing and roofs.

S1W-27069 Brian Fitzpatrick: To ask the Scottish Executive how its school estate strategy will identify comparative standards of educational achievements of pupils served by schools of poor, fair or excellent repair.

S1W-27071 Brian Fitzpatrick: To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will list those court dues exigible in the Court of Session from 1987 to date in monetary terms and showing any percentage and Retail Price Index increases from year to year for (a) lodgment of a summons/petition, (b) a jury precept (c) lodging records, (d) a reclaiming motion, (e) fixing a proof, (g) a proof/debate hearing (each 30 minutes), (h) a summar roll hearing (30 minutes), (i) a jury trial (30 minutes), (j) a motion roll or other Outer House hearing, (k) out of hours hearings, (l) lodging an account of expenses, (m) an Inner House hearing, (n) a single bill, and (o) enrolment of a motion. S1W-27072 Fiona McLeod: To ask the Scottish Executive, with regard to the Report on Care Home Costs for Older People in Scotland, whether it has made any financial provision for water charges in respect of older people in care homes.
