  1. Future Business Programme

    It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament future business, including Timetabling of the Stage 3 Debate on the Protection from Abuse (Scotland) Bill and Approvals of SSIs as detailed in motions S1M-2281 to S1M-2283 (for text of motions see Section F of the Business Bulletin for 3 October 2001).

     

  3. Timetabling of Bills

  4. It was agreed to recommend to Parliament that Stage 1 of the Community Care and Health (Scotland) Bill be completed by 30 November 2001.

     

  5. Referral of Bills

  6. It was agreed to refer the Water Industry (Scotland) Bill to the Transport and the Environment Committee as lead committee. The Bill was also referred to the Subordinate Legislation Committee under Rule 9.6.2.

     

    It was agreed to refer the School Education (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill to the Education, Culture and Sport Committee as lead committee. The Bill was also referred to the Subordinate Legislation Committee under Rule 9.6.2.

     

  7. Removal of Motions from the Business Bulletin

  8. The removal from the Business Bulletin of motions over six weeks old on 27 September 2001 was approved, subject to retention of the following:

    S1M-1971, S1M-1814 S1M-1986, S1M-1998, S1M-2011, S1M-2017, S1M-2076, S1M-2081, S1M-2098, S1M-2113.

    Education, Culture and Sport Committee: Request to Meet in Galashiels

    The Committee’s request to hold a meeting in Galashiels in November 2001, during its inquiry into a reported shortfall in the education budget of the Scottish Borders Council, was approved.

     

  9. European Committee: Request to Visit Brussels

The Committee’s request for its Convener and Deputy Convener to travel to Brussels to attend the European Chairs UK Forum on 29 October 2001 was approved.
