*S1M-1676# Richard Lochhead: Treatment for Alzheimer's Sufferers—That the Parliament notes that around 23,000 people in Scotland suffer from mild to moderate Alzheimer’s Disease; further notes the advice given by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence that the Alzheimer’s treatments Aricept, Exelon, and Riminyl be made available to sufferers of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s Disease by health authorities in England and Wales, and believes that the Scottish Executive should recommend immediately to health boards in Scotland that these treatments be made available to appropriate patients.

*S1M-1675# Irene Oldfather: Smoking amongst Young People—That the Parliament recognises the conclusions of the recent project on the control of adolescent smoking co-ordinated by the University of Edinburgh; is concerned that the project classifies Scotland as a country with "lenient national policies" relating to the sale and supply of tobacco; notes the increase in smoking among young people, in particular among girls where the prevalence of smoking has nearly doubled in the last ten years, and believes that the Scottish Executive should consider publishing a specific, government funded strategy to reduce smoking among young people.
