Equal Opportunities Committee

The Committee will meet at 1.00 pm in the Chamber, Assembly Hall, the Mound, Edinburgh

1. Consideration of questions (in private): The committee will consider questions for witnesses.

2. Item to be taken in private: The convener will move that item 4 be taken in private.

3. Ethical Standards in Public Life etc. (Scotland) Bill: The committee will take evidence at Stage 1 on the general principles of the Bill from—

Patrick Rowlink and Ann Stewart of Keep the Clause campaign;

Morag Alexander of the Equal Opportunities Commission;

Tim Hopkins of the Equality Network; Brian Dempsey of Outright Scotland; Strathclyde lesbian, gay and bisexual youth group; Scottish Parents Inquiry.

4. Review of Evidence: The committee will review evidence.

 

Justice and Home Affairs Committee

The Committee will meet at 9.30 am in the Chamber, Assembly Hall, the Mound, Edinburgh

Abolition of Feudal Tenure etc. (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will consider the Bill at Stage 2 (Day 2).

Note: if necessary, the Committee will adjourn for lunch and resume at 2.30 pm.

 

Finance Committee

The Committee will meet at 9.45 am in Committee Room 1

1. Preparation for evidence taking session: The Committee will consider how it wishes to handle agenda item 2.

2. Inquiry into the Finance Functions of the Scottish Executive: The Committee will take evidence from Sir Russell Hillhouse, former Permanent Under Secretary, The Scottish Office.

3. Review of evidence: The Committee will consider the inquiry evidence.

 

Local Government Committee

The Committee will meet at 10.30 am in Committee Room 3

1. Ethical Standards in Public Life etc. (Scotland) Bill (in private): The Committee will consider questions to be addressed to the Deputy Minister for Local Government at the meeting of the Committee on Tuesday 28 March.

 

Rural Affairs Committee

The Committee will meet at 1.30 pm in Committee Room 2

1. Consideration of questions (in private): The Committee will consider its approach to questions to the Draft National Parks Bill.

2. Draft National Parks (Scotland) Bill (at 2.00 pm): The Committee will take evidence from the Minister for Transport and the Environment on the outcome of public consultation on this draft Bill.

3. Sea Fisheries (Shellfish) Amendment (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will take evidence from Tavish Scott MSP.

4. Inquiry into the Impact of changing employment patterns on rural communities: The Committee will consider a briefing by Professor Mark Shucksmith.

5. Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will consider the time-tabling of Stage 1 of this Bill.

 

Audit Committee

The Committee will meet at 2.00 pm in Committee Room 3

1. Future Work Programme (in private): The Committee will consider its future work programme and related issues.

2. Draft Committee Reports (in private after 2.45pm): The Committee will consider how to handle its forthcoming evidence session on the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report, ‘Scottish Enterprise: Skillseekers Training for Young People’.

 

European Committee

1. Review of the European Structural Fund Project Management Executives and their relationship with the Scottish Executive, and the role of the Project Monitoring Committees: The Committee will hear evidence from-

2. Remit of the Inquiry into European Structural Funds and their implementation in Scotland: The Committee will discuss a remit for this Inquiry

3. Convener's Report: The Convener will report to the Committee on-

Seminar on the proposed 6th Environmental Action Programme: Report by Dr Sylvia Jackson MSP (held on 17 March 2000)

First meeting of the European elected Members Liaison Group (to be held on 25 April 2000)

Meeting with EU agricultural attachés (held on 9 March 2000)
