PUBLIC PETITIONS COMMITTEE CONSIDERATION OF PE1300:
QUESTIONS ARISING FROM COMMITTEE MEETINGS

(See ‘Written submissions’ for responses)

TUESDAY 26 OCTOBER 2010

Scottish Government—

  • Are there any circumstances in which you would reconsider awarding high bonuses to Scottish Water top executives, particularly at a time when there might be redundancies in this industry?

MONDAY 15 JUNE 2010—

Scottish Government—

  • Would it be your intention to seek the ending of the bonuses culture with Scottish Water at the next negotiation of the salary levels of its senior executives?

  • When will these negotiations take place?

MONDAY 15 MARCH 2010

Scottish Government—

  • What is its response to the concerns raised in the submission of Waterwatch Scotland (PE1300/C)?

  • The submissions from the Water Industry Commission for Scotland (PE1300/A) and Scottish Water (PE1300/B) state that Scottish Water has improved its efficiently significantly since its formation. Presumably, sustaining such improved efficiency significantly year after year may be difficult, if not impossible, to attain. In that case, is awarding high bonuses still justified?

  • What is its response to the points made by John Wilson MSP regarding what action is being taken to ensure a credible oversight of the water industry?
