Written Questions for PE1363
Written Submissions for PE1363
9 November 2010 : The Committee agreed to write to the petitioner, Scottish Government, Scottish Human Rights Commission, Equalities and Human Rights Commission and Amnesty International seeking responses to points raised in the petition and during the discussion.
25 January 2011 : The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders on the grounds that the Scottish Government "cannot apologise on behalf of governments and public bodies" however, it does recognise that Gypsies/Travellers are among the most disenfranchised and discriminated against in Scotland. Furthermore, the Scottish Government, in recognition that Gypsies/Travellers are a distinct ethnic group who suffered particular discrimination, is taking forward work to address the priorities fed into the Race Equality Statement as a result of the Equal Opportunities Committee's inquiry report.
