The meeting opened at 9.33 am.

 

1. Meeting in private: The Committee agreed to meet in private to consider draft reports on Scottish prisons and the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Bill at the next meeting.



2. European Document: The Committee considered European Document 291: Draft Council Decision on the integration of refugees, and took note.



3. Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Bill: The Committee took evidence at Stage 1 on the general principles of the Bill from—

    Mr Rab Hide, Deputy Chairman of Scottish Council, Dr Bill O’Neill, Ethics Department, and Dr Michael Wilks, Chairman, Medical Ethics Committee, British Medical Association;

    Rea Johnston, Lecturer in Adult Nursing at Napier University, and Alex McMahon, Advisor on Nursing Policy, Royal College of Nursing;

    Professor Sheila McLean, University of Glasgow.



4. Abolition of Poindings and Warrant Sales Bill: The Committee took evidence at Stage 1 on the general principles of the Bill from—

    Tommy Sheridan MSP and Mike Dailly, Govan Law Centre.



5. Abolition of Feudal Tenure etc. (Scotland) Bill: The Committee took evidence at Stage 1 on the general principles of the Bill from—

Gavin Corbett, Shelter, and Jim Lugton, Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations, Dr Graham Blount, Scottish Churches Together in Scotland, and Andy Wightman, all on behalf of the Scottish Land Reform Convention.

 

The meeting closed at 12.35 pm.
