*S2M-273 Mr Rob Gibson: GM Free Zone on Shetland IslandsThat the Parliament welcomes the recent consultation by Shetland Islands Council environmental forum on the creation of a genetic-modification-free zone on the islands and urges the Scottish Executive to assist the local authority achieve this aim in every way possible.

*S2M-271# Ms Sandra White: It's Scotland's OilThat the Parliament welcomes the comments by its former Presiding Officer, Sir David Steel, that the revenues from Scotlands oil reserves should be placed under the control of the Parliament and believes that the Scottish Executive should support this welcome initiative from a leading Liberal Democrat figure and press Her Majestys Government for control of Scotlands oil revenue to be placed in the hands of the Parliament.

*S2M-270# Mike Pringle: Single Transferable Vote and Electoral Reform Society ReportThat the Parliament welcomes the Electoral Reform Societys report, Room for Improvement?, on the 2003 Scottish Parliament elections and, in particular, notes some of the problems it identified with the additional member system of voting; notes the reports conclusion that the single transferable vote (STV) would overcome many of these problems and overcome the conflict that can arise from having both constituency and list MSPs; agrees that the STV system should be used for the Parliaments elections, which will enable communities to be better represented; believes that it should have the power to legislate for its own electoral system, and calls on the UK Parliament to transfer that power to this Parliament.

*S2M-269# Colin Fox: Consultation on Tax PowersThat the Parliament supports the call by its former Presiding Officer, Sir David Steel, for the Parliament to be given increased tax powers and believes that the Scottish Executive should institute a consultation on the tax powers that the public considers would best be transferred to the Parliament from Westminster.

*S2M-268 Cathy Peattie: Vlaams Blok VisitThat the Parliament notes with concern the visit of Dominiek Lootens-Stael, chairman of the Vlaams Blok group, as part of a delegation of Flemish MPs to the Parliament; further notes the political activities of the group and the concerns of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office about the visit, and calls on the Presiding Officer to reverse his decision to allow Vlaams Blok to visit the Parliament.

*S2M-266 Tommy Sheridan: Visit of Vlaams Blok Chairman to the ParliamentThat the Parliament applauds the Welsh Assemblys decision to ban the visit of a delegation of Flemish MPs, which includes Dominiek Lootens-Stael, chairman of the Vlaams Blok group; recognises that the Vlaams Blok group is well known as a far right, racist organisation; believes that it brings shame on the Scottish people and the Parliament that it should provide a platform to a known fascist, and calls on the Presiding Officer to reverse his decision to extend the Parliaments hospitality to this delegation and on all MSPs to boycott the visit if it proceeds.
