Future Business Programme

It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament future business, including Designations of Lead Committees, as detailed in motions S1M-2410, S1M-2411 and S1M-2417 (for text of motions see Section F of the Business Bulletin for 7 November 2001).

Referral of Bills

It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament that the Tobacco Advertising and Promotion (Scotland) Bill be referred to the Health and Community Care Committee as lead committee and the Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee as secondary Committee. The Bill was also referred to the Subordinate Legislation Committee under Rule 9.6.2.

Timetabling of Bills

It was agreed to recommend to the Parliament that Stage 1 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Bill be completed by 18 January 2002 and that Stage 1 of the Fur Farming (Prohibition) (Scotland) Bill be completed by 31 January 2002.

Local Government Committee: Request to Appoint an Adviser

The Committee’s request to appoint an adviser to assist in its scrutiny of the Local Government Bill was approved.
