Whitefield: National Carers’ Week: 11-17 June 2001—That
the Parliament pledges its support to National Carers’
Week from 11 to 17 June 2001; acknowledges the huge contribution
which carers make to society as the mainstay of care in
the community; welcomes the publication of the report
from the Scottish Carers’ Legislation Working Group and
the ongoing consultation by the Scottish Executive on
proposals for carers’ legislation; notes with concern
the findings in the Carers’ National Association Scotland
research document You can take him home now on carers’
experience of hospital discharge, and urges the Scottish
Executive to consider the findings of that document during
the formulation of its next Programme for Government and
to work with health boards and organisations throughout
Scotland to implement the recommendations made in the
report and the research document.
