Finance Committee

23rd Meeting, 2000

The Committee will meet at 10.00 am in Committee Room 1

1. Committee Business: The Committee will consider whether to take items 5 and 6 in private.

2. Inquiry into European Structural Funds: The Convener will update the Committee.

3. Financial Resolutions: The Committee will consider a paper from the clerk.

4. Inquiry into Resource Accounting and Budgeting: The Committee will consider a draft remit for the inquiry.

5. External Research: The Committee will receive an update on the external research that is being commissioned.

6. Stage 2 of 2001/02 Budget Process and Budget Review: The Committee will consider the forward work programme.

Audit Committee

European Committee

Proposal for the European Committee’s visits to the European institutions, end 2000/early 2001

Proposed visit to the Scottish Parliament by a parliamentary delegation from Schleswig Holstein, Germany, 6 October 2000

3. Reporter's reports: The Committee will hear a progress report by Dennis Canavan MSP on his report into the proposed European Charter on Fundamental Rights

4. Scrutiny of EC/EU documents: The Committee will carry out the scrutiny of documents received since 2 May 2000

5. Inquiry into football transfer fees and the proposals of the European Commission: The Committee will discuss its draft report

6. New working procedures and a revised work programme (September 2000 to June 2001): The Committee will discuss its draft report

7. Scottish aquaculture industry: The Committee will discuss the revised draft reporter’s report prepared by Maureen Macmillan MSP on the impact of European list I designated disease Infectious Salmon Anaemia and list II disease Viral Haemorrhagic Septicaemia on the Scottish aquaculture industry

Local Government Committee

Rural Affairs Committee

The Committee will meet at 2.00 pm in Committee Room 2

1. Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Bill: The Committee will consider its approach to taking evidence at Stage 1 of this Bill.

2. Proposed Salmon Conservation Bill: The Committee will consider its approach to taking evidence at Stage 1 of this Bill.

3. Agricultural Business Improvement Scheme: The Committee will consider a report by the Audit Committee on this scheme.

4. Subordinate Legislation: The Committee will consider The Export of Pigs, Porcine Material and Bovine Animals (Scotland) Regulations 2000/300 under the negative procedure.

5. Petitions: The Committee will consider PE194 from Mr D Keith of behalf on the Scottish Campaign for Public Angling regarding access to the River Tay.

6. Inquiry into changing employment patterns on Rural Scotland (in private): The Committee will resume consideration of a draft report on the inquiry.
