Meetings of Committees

All meetings take place in Committee Chambers, Edinburgh unless otherwise indicated.

 

Education, Culture and Sport Committee

16th Meeting, 2000

The Committee will meet at 10.00 am in Committee Room 2

1. Standards in Scotland's Schools etc. Bill: The Committee will consider the Bill at Stage 2 (Day 4).

2. Update on Committee Business: The Committee will be updated on business in its current work programme.

3. Executive’s Budget Proposals: The Committee will discuss its approach to the scrutiny of the Executive’s budget proposals.

The Committee will adjourn for lunch at 12.30pm and resume at 2.30pm if necessary.

 

Equal Opportunities Committee

11th Meeting, 2000

The Committee will meet at 10.00 am in Committee Room 1

1. Caledonian MacBrayne: The committee will take evidence from Caledonian MacBrayne from –

Ken Duerden, Commercial Director and William Kindness, Customer Services Manager

2. Professor Sheila McLean: The committee will take evidence from –

Professor Sheila McLean of the Institute of Law and Medical Ethics, University of Glasgow

3. Subordinate Legislation: The committee will consider the following negative and hybrid instruments –

The Census (Scotland) Regulations 2000 (SSI 2000/102) and the Census (Scotland) Amendment Order 2000 (draft)

4. Reporters' Reports: The committee will hear progress reports from-

Irene McGugan – Disability issues

Johann Lamont – Gender issues

Michael McMahon – Race issues

Nora Radcliffe – Sexual orientation issues

5. Correspondence: The committee will consider recent correspondence received by the clerk and convener.

6. Role of the Equal Opportunities Committee in Mainstreaming (in private): The committee will consider its role in mainstreaming.

 

Finance Committee

The Committee will meet at 10.00 am in Edinburgh Festival Theatre, 13/29 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh

1. European Funding Inquiry: The Committee will consider the proposed remit for their inquiry.

2. Contingent Liability: The Committee will consider liability which has been notified to them by the Scottish Executive Health Department.

 

Subordinate Legislation Committee

The Committee will meet at 11.15 am in Committee Room 3

1. Delegated Powers Scrutiny: The Committee will consider the response from the Executive to points raised on the National Parks (Scotland) Bill and will call the following witnesses from the Executive Bill team for this item—
